Our coastline is unique – can you help look after it?

Cleethorpes sand dunes provide a unique habitat for rare orchids and other native species, but they need looking after.

North East Lincolnshire Council’s ecology team is calling for volunteers to help our wild habitats flourish.

The latest opportunity to get involved is at Cleethorpes sand dunes on Monday 20 December from 10am to 2:30pm.

The team will be working in the sand dunes behind the boating lake, raking and removing cut vegetation to improve the growing conditions for orchids and other sand dune species.

If you have a passion for nature conservation or just enjoy being outdoors and are willing to lend hand, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Volunteers can join in for a couple of hours or all day. All you need is a pair of sturdy boots, your enthusiasm, and possibly a packed lunch.

The team will start at the leisure centre end of the dunes at 10am.
