A study exploring all options for a new or improved pedestrian footbridge at Fuller Street, Cleethorpes, is being carried out.
Concerns were recently expressed over the safety of the Fuller Street bridge in the local media.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, speaking at the full meeting of North East Lincolnshire Council at Grimsby Town Hall, said: “The Fuller Street footbridge is owned by the council and is subject to regular inspection by the Highways Team. The most recent inspection indicated that the condition of the bridge is sound.
“Council officers and ward members met with Network Rail on 16 July to review options to improve pedestrian access between North Promenade and adjoining residential areas following the closure of the Suggitts Lane level crossing earlier this year.
“Network Rail and the council have agreed to collaborate on a feasibility study that will explore all options for a new or improved pedestrian footbridge. This work will be completed over the next three months.”
