We’re serious about climate change. That’s the message as we listen to the public and members of North East Lincolnshire Council, and take even more steps to be clean and green.
In October, we debated on the issue at full council, and committed to ensuring that the impact on our climate will be particularly considered whenever NELC makes policy decisions.
We’ve had more discussions since then, and we are now planning an all-member session on the climate change/clean growth agenda.
Councillor Philip Jackson, leader of NELC, said: “In addition, as well as practical steps such as replacing all street lights with more efficient LED lamps, installing solar panels on public buildings, making the transition to an electric vehicle fleet and providing grants and support to businesses through the Smart Energy programme, we’re also drafting a paper to include the formation of a Select Committee to examine where we currently are as a council and a borough with regard to the clean and green agenda and how we move it forward.”
