The Grimsby Crematorium car park has reopened following some much needed extension works.
The works, which started last month, increased the car park capacity by adding an additional 83 parking bays.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “This upgrade was much needed.
“We have seen over the years how crammed that area and the adjoining roads can become with cars when funerals are taking place. When someone is saying goodbye to their loved ones, parking should be the last thing on their mind.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank local residents and mourners who have been very patient whilst these works have taken place.
“I’d also like to thank the contractors that carried out the works. They were incredibly respectful and switched off their machinery and removed their helmets as funeral cars passed them.”
The new car park was officially opened earlier this week at a short ceremony attended by The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor Terry Walker and accompanying dignitaries.
