Businesses in North East Lincolnshire which have gone the extra mile to help out in the current pandemic have been praised by the Council.
The last few weeks have seen many businesses in across the area look at their operations and see what can be done either to help the community out, step up or change production, or change their business model to keep things going.
Cllr John Fenty, Cabinet member for regeneration and investment, said: “It’s in times of crisis that businesses and individuals step up and do what they can to help. We’re seeing a myriad of different businesses across our patch do what they can, and I’d like to issue a personal thank you on behalf of the council for this.
“I’ve heard lots of examples of businesses changing what they’re producing in order to help the NHS specifically. New alliances have been created to deliver 3d printed visors and safety equipment to the hospitals and social care homes. Some companies have changed from producing home furnishing to making scrubs for the NHS. And one of our local distilling companies even switched production to stop distilling alcohol for consumption, and creating hand sanitiser instead.
“Other companies have expanded production to include additional home delivery services. And there’s others that are helping to support people who are suddenly having to work from home – a local packaging company, for example, has switched from making boxes to designing, and selling, a cardboard desk strong enough to support a laptop and printer.
“The adaptability of many of our local businesses is to be applauded.
“We have to remember, though, that there are a number of businesses who can’t diversify, and are struggling at this time. For those businesses, I’d encourage them to get in touch with E-Factor in the first instance, who can signpost to help and support that’s available.”
The council is working with a number of partners to provide business advice. If you’re not sure what advice and funding you can access, email businesssupport@e-factor.co.uk in the first instance to arrange a call back from one of the advisors. Someone will call you back to discuss your queries, and make sure you find the information and support you need to make the decisions that are best for your business.
