Residents, businesses and organisation are being invited to have their say on North East Lincolnshire Council’s budget proposals for the next financial year.
Being launched today, the consultation will run until January 26 and during that time you’ll be able to give your views here, while paper copies of the survey will also be available in the four Lincs Inspire libraries and at the Municipal Offices in Grimsby and Cleethorpes Civic Offices .
Councillor Stan Shreeve, Cabinet member for Finance, said the council wants to hear people’s views about which of its activities are important to them.
“Local government finance decisions we make when setting the budget can affect you and your community, so it’s important that you give us your views, ‘’ he explained.
“The council tax you pay is only one of our main funding sources. The other two are business rates and grants from central government.
“It’s widely known that local government continues to face budget challenges, which has meant that we’ve have to find new ways to deliver services, including working with the community on key issues and problems.
“With the ever increasing demands it’s vital that we try and balance the delivery of services that affects everyone with those activities that are governed by statute.
“Issues, such as bins, litter and roads affect everyone who lives and works here and these are a key focus of this council.
“Keeping vulnerable children safe, providing great adult social care and minimising homelessness are challenges that we also face and we need to balance all these demands and make sure the needs of all residents are considered.”
“We want North East Lincolnshire to be a place where people thrive, businesses succeed and visitors enjoy what we’ve got to offer. We want to be a smart council, delivering the most efficient and effective services we can to the communities that need them.”
