The council Cabinet that will drive forward the plans for the next year has been confirmed for 2020-21.
The Cabinet responsibilities for this year have been confirmed as follows:
- Cllr Philip Jackson: Leader and lead member for Town Deal, climate change and the green agenda, decarbonisation and strategic economic collaboration
- Cllr Stan Shreeve: Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Finance, Resources and Assets Financial strategy
- Cllr Stewart Swinburn: Portfolio Holder for Environment and Transport Planning
- Cllr Margaret Cracknell: Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Adult social care
- Cllr Callum Procter: Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Housing and Tourism
- Cllr Ian Lindley: Portfolio Holder for Children, Education and Skills
- Cllr Ronald Shepherd: Portfolio Holder for Safer and Stronger Communities
Cllr Philip Jackson, Leader of the Council, said: “We have seen lots of progress and delivery of work on the ground, and with plans around Freeports, the Future High Streets Fund and the Towns Fund starting to come together, we’ll be helping to make a real difference to the people and communities of our towns.”
In addition to the new Cabinet, the following appointments were made to Scrutiny Panels and Committees:

- Communities: Cllr Paul Sylvester
- Economy: Cllr Tom Furneaux
- Health and Adult Social Care: Cllr Henry Hudson
- Tourism and the Visitor Economy: Cllr Keith Brookes
- Planning: Cllr Stephen Harness
- Standards and Adjudication: Cllr Karen Swinburn
- Appointments: Cllr Philip Jackson
- Audit and Governance: Mr Tim Render (Independent Chairman)
- Licensing and Community Protection: Cllr Debbie Woodward
