“I would like to thank to voters of Grimsby, Cleethorpes, and Immingham for once again putting their trust in the Conservatives to run North East Lincolnshire Council,” says Councillor Philip Jackson, the leader of NELC.
“We still have 30 of the 42 seats on the council and we continue with the progress we have been making during our first three years in power. Our focus will continue with attracting new business and jobs into the area, regenerating Grimsby town centre, and delivering the Cleethorpes Masterplan so the resort remains the East Coast’s premier resort.
“We also need to focus on improving children’s services, increasing recycling rates, and reducing littering, fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour. We have already made progress in all of these areas but we know there is still more to do. This was confirmed as we talked to voters during the election campaign and we will continue to be a listening council and make sure we carry people with us.
“As for Labour, after they were decimated in the last two rounds of council elections in 2019 and 2021, and with all that’s happening nationally, you might have expected them to be making a recovery. However, that’s not happening; they only gained one seat yesterday and the total Conservative vote was 36% higher than Labour’s – 14070 electors voted for us and only 10344 for Labour. The voters are clearly looking to us to continue with our work of transforming the area.”
