The council will soon begin the first part of its annual surface treatment programme to improve the road surface and extend the lifespan of roads across North East Lincolnshire.
Works start on Tuesday, May 12 and it is expected that all locations will be completed on a rolling programme within two weeks, subject to weather conditions. Works will be carried out between 7:30am and 6pm each day.
The process involves applying a bitumen emulsion spray to the road, followed by a layer of stone chippings which are spread and rolled into the existing road surface.
These works seal the existing surface from water, improves the surface texture and extends the lifespan of the road.
To allow the works to be completed, half of the carriageway will be required to close. Once the works are complete, vehicles can run on the surface after 30 minutes.
Residents and businesses affected by the works will be contacted by the contractor with further information and instructions.
Advanced warning signs will be installed on site advising of the works. On the day of the works, on street parking will be temporarily suspended to allow the works to take place.
North East Lincolnshire Council’s regeneration partner, ENGIE, will manage and oversee the works with specialist resurfacing contractor, Kiely Bros, completing the works.
Further details about the next stage of the annual surface treatment programme will be released later in the year.
