People are being asked to give their views on air quality in North East Lincolnshire.
North East Lincolnshire Council would like to know what you think it should be doing to improve air quality in the borough.
The wide-ranging consultation covers transport, public health, planning and infrastructure and air quality monitoring. You will also be asked about what steps you’d be willing take to improve air quality locally. The consultation runs from 11 March for four weeks until 8 April 2020.
A recent assessment of Cleethorpe Road suggested an Air Quality Management Area be put in place as nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels were above an acceptable level.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, Cabinet member for the environment, said: “Having clean air is essential for people’s health and wellbeing in addition to the benefits it has for habitats and the environment. We have a duty to make sure the air quality in our area meets national standards and take whatever steps are available to us to reduce air pollution.”
A new action plan, outlining 16 potential measures for the council to explore to help reduce the levels of NO2 to below the levels set out by Government.
