On 26 September 2022 the review of the borough’s Local Plan opened for informal public engagement.
The local plan sets the direction for the borough over the next 20 years, covering themes such as the environment, health and wellbeing of residents, access to work and creating jobs in the area, meeting local housing demand, and ensuring access to education for children and young people in the area.
Throughout October, Planning Officers have met with people across North East Lincolnshire to discuss their feedback on the Local Plan and their ideas for the direction the borough takes.
As we enter the final week of the engagement period, we would encourage you to send your feedback in before the end of the engagement period on Monday 7 November.
Feedback should be given online at https://nelincs-consult.objective.co.uk/kse- external site .
Residents who are unable to get online can write to the Spatial Planning Team, EQUANS, New Oxford House, 2 George Street, Grimsby, DN31 1HB or call 01472 324272 to arrange for a copy of the questionnaire to be posted out to them.
After the engagement period ends, the next steps for the Local Plan will be as follows:
- Draft plan – your opportunity to consider the first draft of the update local plan document
- Submission draft – your final opportunity to comment on what the Council considers to be the version of the local plan it would adopt
- Examination – a public examination of the soundness of the local plan carried out by an Independent Planning Inspector appointed by the Government
- Adoption – the updated local plan is adopted by the Council, subject to the recommendations made by the Planning Inspector
A timetable for this work will be drawn up once all the comments received during this initial public engagement period have been reviewed.
