Two new mobile testing unit sites will be opened in North East Lincolnshire to help detect cases of COVID-19.
The two sites, situated in Immingham and Cleethorpes, will make it even easier for people to get a test when they start to experience the symptoms of COVID-19.
Grant Street Car Park in Cleethorpes and a playing field on Roval Drive in Immingham have been designated for use as Mobile Testing Units, and will be used on a rolling basis as a pop-up testing centre.
Mobile Test Unit sites are situated across the Humber, and have been in use since the start of the pandemic. These new sites will be operating two days per week, and are expected to be used as early as next week.
North East Lincolnshire already has a permanent testing centre at Duchess Street car park in Grimsby, which people can arrange to visit when they call 119 after experiencing the symptoms of the virus.
Councillor Philip Jackson, Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “We’ve been working with Public Health England to get more of these testing sites in North East Lincolnshire.
“It’s important that people arrange to get a test as soon as they start to experience the symptoms of COVID-19, and these two extra sites will allow more people to access a site near them.
“I know that this may cause some concern for those living nearby. The site will be for drive-through tests only, and arrangements have been made to avoid conflicts with drop-off times for nearby schools.”
If you start to experience the symptoms of COVID-19, you must arrange to get a test. Call 119 or visit WWW.NHS.UK
