Community Spotlight, a new webpage dedicated to showing what local groups are doing in the area, has been launched.
Groups can add events and activities to a public calendar on the page, which is part of North East Lincolnshire Council’s website. They also have the chance to shout about who they are and what they do in a short video, which will be filmed by NELC’s communications team.
Councillor Ron Shepherd, portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities, said: “A lot of our community groups do fantastic work but don’t get the recognition they deserve and may sometimes need further support from the communities they serve.
“As a council, we want to ‘shine a light’ on these groups and give them a platform to raise their profile and seek support if they wish. We want community groups to own it.”
Sarah Hagerup from Climb4, which is based at Central Hall, Grimsby, said: “There are still a lot of people that don’t know about us and we do support a lot of people in the area, particularly with our volunteering programme.”
